CV

Stefano Nicoletti was born in Rome on 5 August 1963. He obtained a degree cum laude in Economics and Commerce from the University of Rome in 1989 and a Master in International Politics and Economics in Washington DC, at the School of Advanced International Studies of the Johns Hopkins University, in 1991.

After a short period of work in the Bank of Italy, he entered the diplomatic career in 1993, serving in the Directorate General for Development Cooperation and dealing with soft loans and International Financial Institutions.

In 1998 he held his first assignment abroad at the Italian Embassy in New Delhi where he coordinated the Italian Development Cooperation programs in India, until 2001, when he moved to head the Economic and Commercial Office of the Italian Embassy in Bern, Switzerland.

In 2005 he returned to Rome to serve at the Directorate General for Multilateral Economic and Financial Cooperation, dealing with numerous international organizations in the economic sector (OECD, WTO, ICAO, IMO, UN-WTO among others).

In 2009 he joined the Permanent Representation to the OECD in Paris where he held the role of delegate to the ESA Council and of representative for Italy within the OECD Development Assistance Committee, until 2013, when he was appointed Consul General in Barcelona.

In 2017 he returned to Rome to work in the field of International business promotion at the Directorate General for Country Promotion.
Starting from 2019, he also took up his role as Deputy Central Director for Internationalization.

On 28 June 2022, he arrived in Oslo, Norway, where he has been appointed Ambassador, accredited, with credentials as Ambassador, also in Reykjavík, Iceland.
