Arctic Circle 2018 (Reykjavík, October 19-21)

Italy was strongly back to Arctic Circle, one of the major fora for discussion and interaction on Arctic issues, with a structured participation in this year’s works.

The 2018 edition of an event commonly considered “the Davos of the Arctic” took place in Reykjavík from 19 to 21 October. About 2000 politicians, diplomats, scientists, experts and decision-makers attended the event and participated in nearly 100 events to discuss priorities and policies in the Arctic region as well as to present and exchange experiences.

Italy presented its national strategy for the Arctic – in a comprehensive speech in the plenary assembly by the Special Envoy for the Arctic, Carmine Robustelli- and the scientific and business dimension of the Italian presence in the region – in a breakout session, organized by the Embassy in Oslo with the participation of experts and entrepreneurs.

After four years since Italy’s last active participation in Arctic Circle (in 2014), the return of our country to this important event has been favorably noticed and appreciated.
