“Italiensk på 1-2-3”: a new Italian language textbook for Norwegian-speaking users.

The presentation of the new textbook took place last night at the Italian Cultural Institute in Oslo. Designed for Norwegian students, the book is written by three language specialists -Irene Burdese, Cathrine Rysst and Sergio Sabbatini-.  and fills an important gap: so far the approximately 5,000 Norwegians who study Italian every year were forced to use mostly non-educational material (usually texts only in Italian or texts aimed at tourists rather than language students).

The textbook consists of three volumes and spans over three levels (of which the one presented yesterday is the first) and also provides separate web resources with interactive activities and additional material as well.

The book contains texts and dialogues with sound tracks, exercises, tables and grammar in each chapter -explained in both languages-, comparative grammar, listening and pronunciation exercises, idiomatic expressions, glossaries and texts about Italy.

"Italiensk på 1-2-3" follows a communicative and intuitive method, which offers many opportunities to reflect and compare and autonomous and varied exercises based on linguistic material.

The book is an important new tool for further disseminating Italian language in Norway.
