Italian research in the Arctic. Scientific campaign of the icebreaker Laura Bassi

From 6 August to 14 September, in collaboration with Italian and Norwegian research institutions, the research ship Laura Bassi undertook an oceanographic research expedition in Norwegian waters, structured in the realization of four different research projects dealing with geological, physical, chemical and biological research.

It is the first time that an Italian icebreaker has csrried out a scientific campaign in the Arctic.

The campaign ends in Bergen on 14 September with an event organized by the Italian Embassy on board the Laura Bassi with the participation of the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics (OGS) - owner of the ship, of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, of the University of Bergen, of the Italian Polar Institute of the CNR and of NORCE. the Norwegian Research Center in Bergen.
