Ambassador Stefano Nicoletti visits the editorial staff of the Norwegian newspaper VG

Ambassador Stefano Nicoletti paid a visit to the editorial staff of the Norwegian newspaper VG, where he met the Director Gard Steiro and the journalists Yngve Kvistad and Hanne Skartveit. Gard Steiro has been CEO and editor-in-chief of VG since 2017. Kvistad, in addition to being in love with Italy and especially with Sicily, to which he has dedicated a book, is a journalist, theater critic and a writer. Hanne Skartveit is a foreign policy expert and hosts the podcast “Skartveit”.

The interesting meeting with the editorial staff gave the Ambassador the opportunity to undertake a fruitful exchange of views on the political and economic situation of the two countries and the bilateral relations in the economic (especially the energy sector) and political spheres.

The Norwegian newspaper VG, founded at the end of the 19th century under the name of Verdens Gang as a weekly magazine, has been Norway’s most widely read newspaper since the 1980s.

Over the last few years, VG content has reached an ever-increasing number of readers (more than 2.2 million), thanks also to a successful digitization and diversification process. With a modern journalistic style, along the lines of the British tabloids, VG helps to financially support the entire portfolio of the Schibsted publishing house, which owns almost all the main newspapers in the country. Thanks to the combination of different media channels (podcasts, online TV, digital versions, streaming, social media, advertisements, etc.), the editorial team of more than 400 journalists is able to cover the entire range of news in real time on all media channels.
