Norway: Sports Diplomacy \u2013 Ambassador Nicoletti at the presentation of the Madonna di Campiglio 3Tre and the Audi FIS Ski World Cup in Kvitfjell and Hafjell 2026. Last night, at the Oslo Opera House, the Italian Ambassador to Oslo, Stefano Nicoletti, attended the official presentation of the Madonna di Campiglio Ski World Cup and the Norwegian stages of the Audi FIS Ski World Cup 2026, which will take place in Kvitfjell and Hafjell.<\/span><\/span> In his opening remarks, Ambassador Nicoletti recalled the timeless charm of Madonna di Campiglio, long considered one of the most beloved ski resorts in the Alps and universally recognized as the Pearl of the Dolomites.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The historic Madonna di Campiglio 3Tre competition continues to attract the world’s elite alpine skiing athletes, so much so that many athletes call it the “Monaco Grand Prix of winter sports.”<\/span><\/span> Recalling the Norwegian leg of the Olympic Committee’s International Roadshow, hosted in Oslo last May, the Ambassador recalled the competitive spirit that animates the upcoming Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic and Paralympic Games. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The 3Tre also represents the sporting friendship between Italy and Norway and the importance of the Games as a driver of growth, infrastructure development, and tourist attraction.<\/span><\/span> “Norway,” Nicoletti emphasized, “is a leading nation in winter sports and embodies the values \u200b\u200bof inclusion, sustainability, and international cooperation that are at the heart of the Milano Cortina 2026 project. We want these Games to leave a tangible legacy not only in Italy, but also in the hearts of all those who believe in the power of sport as a tool for unity.”<\/span><\/span> The Ambassador concluded his remarks by expressing his hope that the Norwegian public will take advantage of the Olympic Games to visit both Madonna di Campiglio and Cortina, as well as the many Italian mountain resorts that will host the 2026 Winter Olympics. <\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The evening continued with remarks by David Evangelista, Media Manager of the FIS 3Tre Madonna di Campiglio World Cup, who discussed the legacy of the 3Tre and the highlights of the next edition of the Winter Olympic Games; FIS Secretary General Michel Vion; and Ole Kristian Kirkerud, CEO of Hafjell-Kvitfjell Alpin, who explored the past and future challenges of the Ski World Cup.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n

The evening concluded with three panel discussions, followed by the stories of some of the legends of Norwegian skiing: Sebastian Solev\u00e5g, Kjetil Andr\u00e9 Aamodt, and Ole Christian Furuseth.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n
