Italy – through a large stand of the Calabria Region – participated at the Norwegian tourism fair, Reiselivsmessen, one of the most important meeting points for the tourism industry in the Scandinavian region, held in Oslo from 6 to 8 January 2023.
During the fair, the Calabria Region presented its territory both as a tourist and a eno-gastronomic destination.
Calabria boasts a centuries-old culinary tradition, made up of genuine products and excellent raw materials. Thanks to its favorable geographical conformation, located between the sea and the mountains, Calabria is able to offer a vast range of products. Among the culinary excellences of the Calabrian territory are cured meats, olive oil, cheeses for all tastes – from the Silano and Ciminà caciocavallo to the Pecorino Crotonese, the famous Tropea onion and the spicy ‘nduja. Calabria also boasts a centuries-old tradition in the field of wines.
Calabria’s delicious ingredients and simple cuisine are the basis of the Mediterranean diet, which finds its origins here, in Nicotera. But in recent years the Calabrian cuisine has evolved and distinguished itself as an increasingly refined cuisine. In fact, in 2022, seven Calabrian restaurants reconfirmed or earned a Michelin star for the first time.
Calabria wishes to attract Norwegian tourists, focusing on the history of its villages, the beauty of the places and its national parks and the genuineness of its cuisine. Discovering Calabria through its culinary tradition and excellent products is an extraordinary journey that is worth living!
