The Italian State Property Office, Agenzia del Demanio, has been working for several years to recover real estate owned by the State and other public bodies thus contributing to the economic and social development of the territory. The Valore Paese-Dimore initiative has been developed since 2013 and it aims at the redevelopment of public buildings of historical, artistic and landscape value, selected on the entire national territory.
As part of the “Valore Paese” initiative the State Property Office has launched two new projects: “Lighthouses, Towers and Coastal Buildings” and “Pathways and Routes“. The aim of the projects is to attract a growing number of foreign investors interested in taking part in the redevelopment of state real estate assets by making them reusable for touristic, cultural and social functions that can enhance the territory.
While the first project concerns the development of coastal state buildings, the second focuses on state buildings located along historic-religious routes, cycling/walking trails and landscape itineraries.
The concessions for the projects are a type of public-private partnership (PPP) assigned for up to 50 years through tenders.
The call for bids for the project “Lighthouses, Towers and Coastal Buildings” was published at the end of July and it will expire at the end of November 2018. On the dedicated website there is a list of the properties available and the Guide to the call for bids.
The call for bids for the project “Pathways and Routes” is expected to be published at the end of September 2018.
