The celebrations in Oslo to mark the 150th anniversary of Gioacchino Rossini’s death were held on September 29th and 30th. The scheduled events – in collaboration with the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and the Italian Cultural Institute in Oslo- included two master-classes held by Maestro Ernesto Palacio, tenor and one of the greatest specialists of Rossini’s operas and music, and a lyric recital at the Scene 2 of the Opera House, dedicated to famous arias from Rossini operas.
The Italian mezzo-soprano Aurora Faggioli, the Australian tenor Shanul Sharma and the Azeri baritone Elcin Huseynov, from the Rossini Opera Festival, performed for almost two hours and were greatly appreciated by the public.
These events will be followed by the screening of movies of operas by Rossini shown during the various editions of the Pesaro Film Festival.
The Norwegian Opera has staged, in its 2018 program, several performances of the Barber of Seville in homage to the great Italian composer from Pesaro. And in 2019 it will present performances of La Cenerentola.
