The Embassy in Oslo – a “plastic-free” embassy

The Italian Embassy in Oslo joins the campaign put forward by the Italian Ministry of the Environment and intends to become a “plastic-free” embassy.

The aim is to gradually reduce and then eliminate the use of disposable plastic at the Embassy, adopting and implementing the Decalogue, launched by the Ministry of the Environment, to encourage good practices such as:

1. Apply the 4R rule: reduce, reuse, recycle, recover;

2. Limit the use of products with excessive packaging (snacks, biscuits, packaged fruit juices) and promote the consumption of fresh products;

3. Bring your own cup to the office to consume hot drinks;

4. Eliminate plastic straws;

5. Use reusable canvas bags instead of plastic ones;

6. Avoid disposable tableware, such as cutlery and plastic dishes, and use your own food containers.

7. Reduce the use of lighters;

8. When ordering the lunch to be delivered at the office, ask suppliers to use recyclable materials and dishes;

9. Pay attention to toothpastes and scrubs, many contain microplastic particles;

10. Choose to use reusable containers to store food.

The initiative should be marked with a visit to Oslo by Minister of the Environment Costa in the near future.
