After a few years break, the Italian business community in Norway gathered again in Oslo yesterday December 12th. The meeting was organized by the Italian Embassy with the attendance of the Italian Italy Trade Agency and the Italian-Norwegian Chamber of Commerce. Guest of honor was the chief economist of the Federation of Norwegian Industries, Øystein Dørum, who gave a much appreciated speech on the future prospects of Norwegian economy.
The aim of the event was the presentation of the activities of the Embassy in economic diplomacy, networking and exchange of experiences.
Alongside the traditional presence of the most important Italian companies present in Norway (Eni/Vår Energi, Ghella, Leonardo Helicopters, Fincantieri/Vard, Rebaioli, Mapei), a significant number of other companies participated in the meeting. They are companies which the Embassy intends to have close contacts with and associate to events and promotional activities in the economic-commercial sector. The Embassy considers important to enlarge the composition of the Italian business community in Norway, also in a way that better reflects the diversified presence of our business in this country, and to improve networking opportunities and concrete collaboration.
Among the new companies attending the meeting were e-GEOS (geo-information applications and services), Pedrali (design), Kadme (software for companies in the oil & gas sector), Troyer (hydro-electric turbines), Arper (design), iGuzzini (lighting) ColliCare (logistics services), Smak Av Italia and Vinum Verum (eno-gastronomy). Altogether there were about 25 companies, each of which was given the opportunity to make a short presentation of their activity in Norway.
In his presentation Ambassador Colella underlined the importance that the Embassy in Oslo attaches economic diplomacy as a means to support Italian companies and firms and strenghten their growth. The Ambassador highlighted the two main paths along which economic diplomacy is carried out: the institutional support given to businesses in relation to their contacts and dialogue with the local authorities and the information and updating provided to foster, among other things, a greater participation of Italian companies in tenders launched by the public sector in Norway, particularly numerous in the infrastructural sector.
