As from 4 December 2018 an adequate knowledge of the Italian language, at least at level B1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for languages (Council of Europe 2001), is required when applying for Italian citizenship pursuant to art. 5 and 9 of Law n. 91, 5 February 1992 (marriage and residence).
To fulfil this requirement the applicant must obtain:
– a degree awarded by a public or recognized educational institution or
– a certification issued by a certifying body.
The certifying body to assess knowledge of Italian language in Oslo is the Italian Institute of Culture (Oscarsgate 56) that organizes Italian courses beginning on Monday 14th January 2019.
