As part of the Italian-British co-presidency of the 26th Conference of the Parties (COP 26) of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), Italy will organize a preparatory event dedicated to young people.
The “Youth4Climate: Driving Ambition” will take place in Milan on 28-30 September 2021. The first two days will be dedicated to working groups engaged in thematic discussions while the third day will be reserved for a discussion between the young delegates and the Ministers participating in Pre-COP 26.
The call for applications to participate in the event is open until 1 March. Each candidate (age between 15 and 29 years) can apply independently and the public selection will be conducted by a special committee composed of representatives of the Italian government and the United Nations.
The event will see the participation of 400 young people: ideally two young people will be selected for each of the 197 countries that are part of the UNFCCC.
The results of the event can be incorporated into a final declaration, which will be presented at Pre-COP26, an intermediate step towards COP26 in Glasgow.
The application form is available at: https://un.submittable.com/submit.
