The three-day institutional visit of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Edmondo Cirielli to Oslo has concluded. The first stop included a visit to the construction site of the Italian company Ghella, engaged in the realization of the contract for the excavation of the eleven-kilometer tunnel for the new water distribution network that will guarantee the supply of drinking water to Oslo and whose works, conducted using cutting-edge technologies and a unique Italian know-how in the world, will last until 2027.
In the evening, Deputy Minister Cirielli opened the seminar “Children’s books in Oslo. Waiting for the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2026”, organized by the Italian Cultural Institute and Norla (Norwegian Literature Abroad), an organization that deals with the promotion of Norwegian books abroad. The initiative, dedicated to children’s literature with bilateral meetings between Norwegian and Italian publishers, is part of the preparatory meetings for the Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2026, where Norway will be the guest of honor.
The visit to the Norwegian capital continued with bilateral consultations with the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Maria Varteressian and a meeting with the Minister of Industry and Trade, Cecilie Terese Myrseth, as well as a visit to the Norwegian Space Agency, to discuss issues related to a further strengthening of bilateral collaboration in the space sector after the recent mission conducted by the Italian Space Agency and Italian companies in the sector in Norway. Deputy Minister Cirielli also participated in a seminar at the Norwegian Shipowners’ Association with Norwegian and Italian companies, dedicated to the topics of green shipping and renewable energy.
Deputy Minister Cirielli paid as well a visit to the Royal Family’s Summer Palace of Oscarshall, which hosts until mid-September the temporary exhibition “Come si aspetta ogni ritorno” (As we await every return) with bronze and aluminum sculptures by the Italian artist Davide Rivalta, set up inside the Oscarshall gardens, on the joint initiative of the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Oslo in collaboration with the Royal Art Collections.
