The Visa unit of the Embassy of Italy handles the issuing of visas – allowing applicants to entry into Italy or the EU.

Study Visa – University enrollment:
- Entry visa application form.
- Norwegian residence card and copy of this card.
- Recent passport-size photograph (withe background.
- Valid travel document whose expiry date is three months longer than that of the visa requested and copy of travel document.
- Proof that the applicant has adequate accommodation in Italy, such as rental agreement and/or hotel reservation for 30 days. If the applicant is staying with friends/relatives, a letter of invitation is required, duly filled in and signed by the host, along with his ID.
- Proof that the applicant has sufficient means of subsistence of no less than 534.41 euros per month, equal to 6,947.33 euros per year (13 monthly payments). This can be proven in one of the following ways: evidence of personal or financial resources; economic guarantees provided by Italian institutions and bodies of an established credit, by local Governments, or by foreign institutions and bodies considered to be reliable by the Italian diplomatic mission.
- Enrolment or pre-enrolment in the course to be followed in Italy.
- Travel reservation/ticket.
- Health insurance policy: Students must have adequate insurance coverage for medical care and hospitalization (Article 39, paragraph 3, Law No. 286/1998 and Directive 01.03.2000 of the Ministry of the Interior), which must also be presented when applying for a residence permit.
