Beyond the Arctic Circle “Italian day in Tromsø” – Italian and Norwegian Co-operation in the Arctic Region (11 June 2014)

The project Beyond the Arctic Circle “Italian day in Tromsø” – Italian and Norwegian Co-operation in the Arctic Region” is a one-day seminar in four sessions, designed to highlight the Italian presence and contribution to the Norwegian Arctic capital and its region. The event is co-organized by the Embassy of Italy in Oslo and the Arctic University of Tromsø with the participation of representatives from the scientific (in a broad sense), business, diplomatic and political community as well as from media interested in the bilateral relations between Italy and Norway and in particular in the Arctic region.

The seminar will be held at the premises of the Arctic University and is intended as an opportunity for interested Italian and Norwegian players to be better acquainted and to exchange views and experiences also in view of trying to achieve new synergies. Attendance is open to researchers, students, members of the business community and international organizations, other relevant bodies and agencies located in Tromsø.


The aim of the event is to illustrate, highlight and give an overall picture of the contribution made by Italian actors in Norway thanks to their professional competence, technologies and know-how in different areas, such as scientific research, business, law and regulations with a special focus on the Arctic, as well as the excellent on-going co-operation between Norwegian and Italian actors on Arctic issues.


A guided visit to the photo exhibition “Portraits from Gaza” by Paolo Pellegrin (Perspektivet Museum)  and the screening of “La Grande Bellezza”, Italian film written and co-directed by Paolo Sorrentino, winner of the 2014 Oscar for Foreign language film will take place in the afternoon after the closing of the Seminar.
