The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation has opened the submission of applications for three scientific awards:
- The award “Italian Bilateral Scientific Cooperation Award”
- The award “L’innovazione che parla italiano”
- The award “Science, She Says!”
- The “Italian Bilateral Scientific Cooperation Award” aims at recognizing the work of an Italian experienced scientist who has remarkably contributed to the advancement of science and technology while performing her/his research abroad, thus improving Italy’s S&T relations with foreign countries and international organizations. Now in its eighth edition, the award is dedicated to Italian independent scientists with almost 10 years of experience since completion of their PhD degree, holding a very good scientific track record and carrying out top level research activities in collaboration with foreign scientists active in the country where they live and work. Research activities within multilateral organizations are also eligible.
The applications, which must be sent to oslo.commerciale@esteri.it by 14 February 2025, will be examined by a Scientific Committee chaired by the Head of Office IX of the Directorate General for Country Promotion at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and composed by the Presidents and/or Representatives of the major Italian Research and Academic Institutions.

2. The award “L’innovazione che parla italiano”, now in its sixth edition, is the recognition of the high innovative value of Technology Startups that operate abroad and that were founded by Italian citizens. The award is aimed at startups that can demonstrate that they possess significant innovation potential, with reference to the state of the art both in the host country and internationally.
The applications, which must be sent to oslo.commerciale@esteri.it by 14 February 2025, will be examined by Office IX of the General Directorate for the Promotion of the Country System of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, in collaboration with PNICube, the National Network of University Incubators and Start Cup Competitions.

3. The award “Science, She Says!”, now in its third edition, aims at recognizing 5 outstanding junior female scientists who have remarkably contributed to the advancement of bilateral scientific cooperation in any field of science and technology. Five young foreign researchers under 40 from 5 geographical areas (Africa and the Middle East; Asia and the Pacific; Europe; Central and South America; North America) will be selected by a Committee chaired by the Head of Office IX of the Directorate General for Country Promotion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, and composed by the Presidents and/or Representatives of the major Italian Research and Academic Institutions.

The selected researchers and scientists will be invited to participate in the next Conference of the Scientific and Space Attachés and Agricultural Experts, to be held in Italy in 2025. A medal and a diploma will be given out during an official awards ceremony. Food, travel and accommodation expenses will be covered by the organization.
