On May 5 and 6, the Minister of Enterprise and Made in Italy and Authority delegated to Space and Aerospace Policies, Senator Adolfo Urso, and the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edmondo Cirielli, visited Tromsø and the Andøya Spaceport and Space Centre together with the Norwegian Minister of Trade and Industry, Cecilie Terese Myrseth. The mission was also attended by the Italian Ambassador to Norway, Stefano Nicoletti, the President of the Italian Space Agency, Teodoro Valente, and the Director of the Norwegian Space Agency, Christian Hauglie-Hanssen.
The mission first visited Tromsø, where the headquarters of Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) is located, a reference reality in satellite services and a potential partner of the IRIS 2 program, the new European system for secure satellite communication. The following day it was the turn of the Spaceport on the island of Andøya, one of the most important strategic infrastructures for European space activities, both in the civil and military fields, and an opportunity for involvement for Italian companies operating in the launcher sector.
During the visit, Minister Urso and Minister Myrseth signed a joint statement on bilateral collaboration in the sectors of space, critical raw materials and attracting Norwegian investments in Italy.
