The Italian Embassy in cooperation the Italian Association of Geographical Indications is organizing a seminar on the system of geographical indications (GI), one of the pillars of the Italian economy. The seminar will focus, in particular, on the economic and business aspects of geographical indications, on their system of management and the close ties existing between tradition and innovation which characterize the GI products. International protection of geographical indications and their contribution to territorial economies will also be highlighted. Mr. Leo Bertozzi, Secretary General of the AICIG and Professor Giovanni Belletti, University of Parma, will take part in the event.
The seminar will touch a number of issues, such as the contribution of GI to the development and promotion of local economies; the role of GI in multilateral, EU and national contexts; the promotion of Italian GI around the world, with a specific reference to Norway.
The seminar will take place at the Italian Cultural Institute in Oslo (Oscarsgate 56) on March 16th 2018, starting at 4 p.m.
