Norway: strong wind and avalanche risk

Valanghe

Very strong winds are causing significant disruption to air, maritime, car and rail traffic in almost all regions of northern Norway, including the counties of Trøndelag, Nordland and Troms og Finmark, with numerous flights canceled at various airports.

Snowstorms reduce visibility and may cause road closures.

The orange alert was issued due to the high water rise in the coastal areas of northern Norway, also due to the danger of high waves.

The risk of avalanches also remains high in various regions of the country, especially in the north.

Red alert for the following areas: Vest-Finnmark, Nord-Troms, Lyngen, Tromsø, Sør-Troms, Indre Troms, Ofoten, Salten, Svartisen.

Please, check the weather reports before carrying out any type of excursion or movement, and consult the Norwegian website Varsom https://www.varsom.no/en/ which contains constantly updated bulletins, also available as a downloadable application from both the App Store and Google Play, as well as indications and advice on the most correct behavior regarding safety in the mountains.
